About Me
Bio
So who am I? Well, I'm a 52 year-old mother-of-two who lives in the sweet little town of Skövde in Sweden. My oldest, Tim, is a 24 year-old bike expert, and my youngest, Johnny, is a 21 year-old game development student. And yes, I do have a "friend in the bay" as well ;)
I adore children and animals, especially cats, and I'm all into homebirth, co-sleeping, extended breastfeeding and things like that. In short, natural parenting. I'm also nuts about bathing and swimming and hiking in mountains and woods. Moreover, I love humor, deep, intelligent quality humor, the kind that sets your thoughts and feelings into swirly motion and makes you laugh your abs all sore and your eyes all teary. Like the Monty Python kind :) And I have a very weak spot for British detective stories, especially television series such as Prime Suspect and Vera.
The subjects of biology and biomedicine are two other great interests of mine. I work with blueberry production and forestry, which is the best job a nature-loving woman like me could ever wish for. I also hold an MSc (well, two actually) with a major in Biomedicine from the University of Skövde and have done some research there, in the form of a number of studies on vitamin D and cancer (see My Published Research). I've written a few biomedical articles as well, some of which are put up here (see My Published Articles and My GNM Articles).
Furthermore, I'm very interested in psychology, above all child psychology and gender psychology. I'm also fascinated by the areas of symbolism, spirituality and onomastics (see my Flickr Page). This started when I found out that my own full Christian name, Anette Margaret, actually means "The little pearl who was given grace". I found that so beautiful, and asked my dad about it. To both our surprise, he told me that neither he nor mum had the slightest idea that these names had this meaning when they gave them to me! I ascribe this to spiritual huggermuggering, something I've seen quite a lot of since then :) I've also had some very interesting communications and close encounters with spirits, even several out-of-body experiences. In particular, I've come to learn that many spirits have a really wonderful, deep and teasy sense of humor! That's something seldom mentioned in the spiritual literature though and I find that so strange and remarkable.
Above all, I'm a very passionate woman, I'm passionate about everything I do, from love and motherhood to studying and writing. On the other hand, my heart is quite careful when choosing its beliefs; I don't buy into things easily, no matter if it's conventional or alternative voices proposing it. I've grown to trust my deepest instincts to guide me in life, because over and over again, they've proven to me to be right. Once I've finally let something into my heart though, I cherish it with fiery passion! ♥
